Ernest Lukert


Ernest O. Ernie Lukert, 95, of Sabetha, died May 11, 2012, in Sabetha. Ernie married Esther Gilbert, April 6, 1939 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Fairview. They later moved to a farm south of Sabetha where they farmed and raised cattle until they moved to Sabetha in 1993. His wife of 73 years survives of the home. He is also survived by a son Lee (Connie) Lukert of Sabetha; two daughters: Susie (Dick) Dalton of Prairie Village, KS, Linda (Dick) Devoe of Topeka; eight grandchildren: Jaclyn (Luke) Pfizenmaier, Michelle (Lance) Langvardt, all of Clay Center, KS, John and Jessica Dalton of Prairie Village, Mike Devoe, Any (Andy) Green, Derek (Lori) Snook, all of Topeka, Jonathan (Brandy) Snook of Gray, Georgia; and 14 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Ernie's life is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha. The family will meet with friends from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
