Darlene Herbster Brammer

Darlene Lou Brammer, 80, of Atwater, Calif., died Thursday, April 28, 2011.



She was born in Morrill, Kansas on May 23, 1930, to Louis and Florence (Wilkerson) Herbster.



Darlene was married to Robert Lee Brammer on September 9, 1951, in Verdon, Neb. He survives.



She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a charter member of the Daughters of the Air Museum, a prominent member of the Seventeenth Annual Conference of America Women's Activities-Germany, a member of the Officers' Wives Club, a volunteer tax preparer for senior citizens and an avid bridge player. She was also an active member of the Methodist Church for over 50 years.



Other survivors include her son, Greg Brammer; two daughters, Cynthia Kuhle and Candace Cease; her grandchildren, Grant and Seth Brammer, Lindsey and Michael Kuhle and David Cease; and her stepbrother, Darrell Herbster of Auburn, Neb.



A sister, Donna Goolsby, preceded her in death.



The celebration of Darlene's life will be at the United Methodist Church in Atwater, Calif., at noon Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atwater United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the American Heart Association. Her family wishes to acknowledge the care provided by Mercy Hospital in Merced, Calif., and Doctors Hospital in Modesto, Calif. ---taken from The Sabetha Herald, May 4, 2011

100th Wedding Anniversary




February 28, 1911 Ralph Gilbert and Atha Smith were married in Kay County Oklahoma. After they were married they lived in near Fairview Kansas until about 1919 when they moved to Kay County Oklahoma, where they lived a short time and moved back to the Fairview area.
Their children were: Elda Artimza (15 Jun 1912 Fairview KS-15 Nov 2001 Sabetha KS) married Samuel Payne; John Woodrow (23 Jul 1914 Fairview KS-26 Nov 1978 Sabetha KS) 1st married Helen Holdren, 2nd married Martha Fisher; Melvin Ralph (20 Nov 1915 Brown Co. KS-03 Nov 1975 Hiawatha, KS)married Helen Sewell; William James Hiram (18 Mar 1918 Kay Co. OK-09 Mar 1984 Richardson Co NE) married Katherine Nohl; Esther Fidelia (04 Aug 1920 Kay Co OK-alive) married Ernest Lukert; Robert Anton (13 Aug 1922 Fairview KS-25 Jul 1997 Topeka KS.
Ralph was born 21 Jan 1889 Fairview KS died 04 Jul 1962 Kansas City MO the son of William and Mary Jane (Anderson) Gilbert and Atha was born 08 Mar 1891 Morrill KS died 26 Feb 1924 Nemaha Co Kansas the daughter of Samuel James Burnworth and Lena Susan (Geiger) Smith, both are buried in the Morrill KS cemetery.

Kent Charles MAHAFFEY

Kent MAHAFFEY was married to Pat GILBERT daughter of Dale and Betty GILBERT. She and Kent were divorced. Pat's second husband Tom GATZ died in February of this year.

SPARKS, NV- Kent Charles MAHAFFEY, 63, of Sparks, NV passed away April 19, 2010 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV. He was born November 24, 1946 in Topeka, Kansas to Kenneth and Enid BENNETT MAHAFFEY. Kent served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. His mother, father and half brother Don KELLEY preceded him in death. He is survived by his son Shawn and wife Christy MAHAFFEY of Baldwin City, KS, his son Nathan and wife Cathy MAHAFFEY of Sparks, NV, their mother Patricia GATZ, and 2 grandchildren; Cole and Aubrey MAHAFFEY. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Veterans Guest House, 880 Locust, Reno, NV 89502. Services are scheduled for Friday, April 30th at 2:00 p.m. at Mt.
